Ohio Politician Fires Back, Says He Wasn't Distracted On Zoom Call For Distracted Driving Bill

Ohio state senator Andrew Brenner, R-Delaware, has news for those of you who think he was driving distracted while on a Zoom call with other politicians who were discussing a distracted driving bill moving through the statehouse.

"I wasn't distracted. I was paying attention to the driving and listening to it (the meeting,)" Brenner told the Columbus Dispatch. "I had two meetings that were back to back that were in separate locations. And I've actually been on other calls, numerous calls, while driving. Phone calls for the most part but on video calls, I'm not paying attention to the video. To me, it's like a phone call."

Now, while the distracted driving community is all fired up over Andrew's behavior on the Zoom call, those of us who like to laugh are fired up over Andrew using a background of a home office to make it look like he's at a desk during the Zoom call. It's so absurdly 2020-21. Social scientists are going to look back on these days and just shake their heads and laugh at things like Andrew's green screen day on Zoom.

"I was wearing a seat belt and paying attention to the road," Brenner told the Dispatch. We can tell!

The full Zoom meeting video from The Ohio Channel starts with Brenner sitting in his car with his hands off the wheel, listening intently. Around the 4:20 mark, Brenner's on the move with the living room screen popping up behind him. It's pure art for the Zoom era.

Yes, the nerds who can't laugh at a thing are banging away at Brenner and causing the guy to defend himself. It's our hope here at OutKick that Brenner understands there are normal adults out there who understand the humor/beauty in this. There are those of us out here who have been in the same situation but didn't use a home office background. We're all just trying to survive the times.

And while we're at it, what's more absurd here: Brenner's home office background or the dude sitting in a home office wearing a mask? I think we can all agree Brenner's not the lunatic here.
