OddsShark Super Bowl and College Football National Title Odds

The Clemson Tigers’ upset loss to the Syracuse Orange last week knocked them down five spots in the AP Top 25 poll, and it also put a dent in their latest national championship odds.

Clemson entered last week at +375 on the odds to win the national championship at sportsbooks monitored byOddsShark.com, behind only the Alabama Crimson Tide. With a loss on their record this week, however, the Tigers have fallen to +900 on those betting futures. That has them still trailing the Crimson Tide (who are listed as the clear -110 title favorites) along with the Ohio State Buckeyes, who sit at +500 odds to win the championship.

Ohio State trounced Nebraska 56-14 last week, and now gets a week off before a marquee matchup against the Penn State Nittany Lions on October 28. The Nittany Lions are No. 2 in the AP Top 25 at 6-0 on the season, and fourth at +1000 on the national title odds. If Penn State dispatches Ohio State in two weeks, however, they’ll get a big boost on those futures.

Georgia, at 7-0 on the season, joins Penn State at +1000 on the latest national championship odds, with Wisconsin at +2000, and both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State at +2500. USC, Miami, and TCU hold down +2800 odds, with Michigan, Notre Dame, and North Carolina State at +3300. Washington, now 6-1 on the season, is down to +4000 from +1800 on the list.

When Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone last week it shook up the Super Bowl 52 odds, dropping his Green Bay Packers from their spot just behind the favorite New England Patriots to a position well down the futures list at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

The Packers with a healthy Rodgers were set at +500 on the Super Bowl odds at the sportsbooks last week. The Packers with Rodgers on the shelf have fallen to +1600 on those betting futures, where they not only the trail the Patriots (+450) but the Steelers (+800), Chiefs (+850), Eagles (+850), Seahawks (+1100), and Falcons (+1400) as well.

Green Bay now heads into Week 7 with Brett Hundley at quarterback, and as 5.5-point home underdogs against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints at Lambeau Field. If Hundley falters, would the Packers consider adding Colin Kaepernick for a playoff push? Oddsmakers have that possibility listed at +700 on the betting props, although Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy seemed to throw cold water on the idea in his press conference this week.

Green Bay sits tied with the Minnesota Vikings at 4-2 atop the NFC North standings this week, with the Vikings now up to +2000 on the Super Bowl 52 odds with their path to a division title seemingly easier with Rodgers on the sidelines for the Packers. The Detroit Lions, at 3-3 in the NFC North standings, are set at +3300 on the odds to win Super Bowl 52.
