Notre Dame QB Battle Uncertain after Spring Game

There may have been a quarterback wearing the same number as former QB Ian Book, but it doesn't seem like there was a standout signal-caller to take his place after Notre Dame's spring game.

It has been assumed Wisconsin transfer Jack Coan would be the starter heading into the Blue-Gold game, MSN Sports reports.

Coan completed 18-of-32 passes for 197 yards, while second-man-up redshirt freshman Drew Pyne went 11-for-23 for 146 yards ... but neither threw for a touchdown and both threw an interception.

The only two touchdown drives in the 17-3 game came from the arm of incoming freshman Tyler Buchner. The four-star recruit completed 6-of-9 passes for 140 yards, and he rushed for a touchdown.

Leading into the game, Buchner hasn't been seen as having a shot at winning the job considering his inexperience but after the spring game, things may change for the rookie quarterback.
