No Surprise, Oxford, MS Wins Best College Town

Suck it, Athens. Suck it, Tuscaloosa. Suck it, Madison, Ann Arbor, and State College.

Morgantown, Boulder, Chapel Hill, and Norman, a 'Mr. Suck It' is on line one.

Hey Knoxville, please hold for suck it.

Oh and excuse me, College Station, I’d like a full rack of baby back suck it please, with a cup of mac n’ suck it as my side.

For the millionth time in as many years, Oxford, MS tops the charts as America’s best college town. Why? It’s not rocket science. Everybody down there just wants to dress up, have fun, eat good food, and party ‘til the break of midnight. The Grove is spectacular, the people are friendly, and the entire weekend is contained within a few hundred acres—tailgating, football, and the bar scene are all walking distance from each other. Plus, we have Southern Belles, while the necks down I-55 have cowbells. Even the freedom-hating commies at ESPN couldn’t deny the All-American Southern mystique: being a football fan in Mississippi is just plain damn fun on Saturdays.

If you’re planning a trip to Oxford this fall, either as an away fan or just as a rite of passage NCAA pilgrimage, hit me up on Twitter and I’ll stop everything I’m doing and help you plan the PERFECT weekend. I lived two blocks north of the Square for three years, so while I don’t have all my brain cells, I do have lots of great tips and even more fond memories.
