Reports suggest the San Francisco 49ers are expected to take Alabama quarterback with the No. 3 overall draft pick, but Alabama coach Nick Saban said you’d never know it.
Saban went on The Dan Patrick Show and discussed Niners coach Kyle Shanahan, who came to Jones’ Pro Day.
“[Kyle Shanahan] didn’t ask me a thing. I stood right next to him. I said hi to him,” Saban said. “(Niners GM) John Lynch too. They didn’t ask me a thing. Maybe they thought they weren’t allowed to.”
Saban, Jones and Alabama are coming off a national championship. The 49ers missed the playoffs one season after making it to the Super Bowl, which they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Now, the status of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo seems very much up in the air. Even if San Francisco opts to keep Garoppolo, bringing in Jones as the primary backup and QB of the future would make sense.
But the Niners may want to talk to Jones first. Or at least his college coach.
Naw, what the 49ers need is one Colin Krapernick…. hahahhahahhahahhahhahhahahhhhahahahaha…
Kyle’s gimmicks are about to end his run in san fran.
he lost two super bowls with big leads in the 4th qtr.
this is kyle’s last year. Jones would be wise to get drafted later in the first round.
getting rookie qb is part of plan to not get fired.
Will be given 3-4 more years with developing QB
excuse.
Never understood them giving up on Garoppolo honestly.
I probably wouldn’t want to talk to Nick Saban either.
