Tucker Poolman, a defenseman for the Winnipeg Jets, blocked a shot with his face against the Calgary Flames on Tuesday. Poolman’s teammate, Andrew Copp, shot a video in which Poolman revealed the right side of his face to be scabbed and heavily swollen (via TMZ):

Poolman, by the way, returned to the game after his face was stitched up. If this happened to me, I think you could expect me to step away from blogging until like next Memorial Day. If not longer.
Someday the League will mandate face shields for player’s safety.
Man, that was a solid line of blood as he was skating away. His face reminds me of getting my wisdom teeth pulled.
