Richard Sherman Addresses Cowboys Offensive Line Not Sticking Up For Andy Dalton

The reaction to the lack of reaction from the Dallas Cowboys offensive line after QB Andy Dalton took a cheap shot by Washington Football Team linebacker Jon Bostic last Sunday keeps rolling in. Richard Sherman told Cris Collinsworth this week that the Cowboys disaster is squarely on the shoulders of Mike McCarthy and his inability to handle the adversity faced by his 2-5 team. Sherman, who hasn't played for the 49ers since Week 1, has had plenty of time on his hands to watch the situation in Dallas, and he sees a team that isn't getting direction from the top.

Sherman believes that the team's attitude is a reflection of its leadership and says "something is broken" with Dallas.

“If you’re in Tampa and somebody hits Tom Brady like that, I don’t think that guy makes it off the field," Sherman said this week on The Cris Collinsworth Podcast.  "If you’re in Seattle and that happens to Russell Wilson, I don’t think that guy makes it off the field. If you’re in New Orleans and it happens to Drew, that guy doesn’t make it off the field."

"That’s how football goes. You hit the quarterback, you cheap shot him, the team defends him. That’s what you do. I think there’s something to be said about the leadership of Mike McCarthy and the way his team is responding to adversity. It’s a disaster everywhere."

The Cowboys trotted out an offensive line full of backups to face the Football Team, and Troy Aikman argued this week that the line seemed overwhelmed in the moment and was more concerned with making sure Dalton was okay than with fighting back.

“I think that if this offensive line was the group that we are accustomed to seeing over the years with Travis Frederick and Tyron Smith and Zack Martin, that reaction would have been a lot different," Aikman said. "It definitely would have been different as well had it been Dak Prescott. So you go back to how much do these guys truly interact and gotten to know each other? To me, that’s what I kind of got from it. And the reality that these linemen that were playing, they are all pretty young guys. They’re young, green guys trying to figure it out for themselves."
