Miami Dolphins Place LT Austin Jackson, TE Adam Shaheen On Reserve/COVID List

On Sunday, the Dolphins will take on their AFC East rivals, the New England Patriots to kick off the 2021 season. However, they will have to line up minus a couple key members of their offensive line.

The team announced on Monday that left tackle Austin Jackson and tight end Adam Shaheen have been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, so they won't be taking the field. To compensate for holes on the roster, Miami has elevated cornerback Jamal Perry as a replacement.

This will be the second trip on the COVID-19 list for Jackson, and he has not gotten the vaccine. Jackson will have to sit out a 10-day quarantine before returning to practice.

If a player is vaccinated and tests positive, he can return to practice after producing two negative tests within 24 hours apart. If he tests negative, he must complete a 5-day quarantine.

Vaccinated players who test positive or are deemed a close contact of someone who did do not have to quarantine.

Jackson played in 13 games (12 starts) for the Dolphins in 2020 and ranked 75th among tackles for the year, according to Pro Football Focus.

Shaheen started five games for Miami a season ago, but appeared in all 16 games. He caught 12 of his 22 passes for 150 yards and three touchdowns.
