Cowboys Are Expected To Appear On HBO's 'Hard Knocks'

The Dallas Cowboys are now expected to be featured on HBO's Hard Knocks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Not that we give a rip about the Cowboys -- it just makes a whole lot of sense. They're worth an estimated $5.7 billion for a reason: They're popular.

Their HBO debut begins Aug. 10 at 10 pm.

Good business

Unlike ESPN, HBO knows what they're doing when it comes to marketing. Most NFL fans, despite how they feel about the Cowboys, wondered why it took the show this long to feature Dallas. In some ways, it made sense to delay their debut until Hard Knocks had a solid foundation, and then give America's team the floor.

I'm no wizard, but the Cowboys should do better numbers than any other team. They're the New York Yankees of football in many ways. They've won lots of titles, just not any since millennials were born. They built up fan bases from the 80s and 90s, which has carried into the next generation by default. They're basically a money-making machine for both Jerry Jones and HBO.

It helps that Dak Prescott is set to make his return after season-ending ankle surgery last year. He also signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension, which should keep him and fans invested in the franchise. How team leaders respond to mega-deals always make for good TV, so we'll see how Dak carries himself in front of the bright lights of HBO. If I had to guess, I'd say he'll do just fine.
