Buccaneers Receivers Coach: So Far, So Great With Antonio Brown

Wide receiver Antonio Brown has been known for causing a stir. So far, that has not been the case during his brief time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"He’s done everything that I’ve asked him to do," Buccaneers receivers coach Kevin Garver told reporters. "We’re in communication every day. We talk every morning. We talk all throughout the day. We have extra meetings that we do, and he’s done everything that I’ve asked him to do up to this point."

Brown signed a one-year contract with the Buccaneers on Oct. 27. The deal was for the base salary of $750,000, but it comes with incentives. Brown can reportedly earn $250,000 for 45 receptions, another $250,000 for 650 yards and another $250,000 for six touchdowns during the regular season. He will also pick up an extra $750,000 if the Buccaneers win the Super Bowl.

So far, he has three catches for 31 yards, all coming in his debut Sunday, a blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints.

But for Brown and Tom Brady, that was likely just the beginning.

“He really came out of the game with one mental error which, one week of preparation, I’d say that’s pretty solid,” Garver said. “I think he really did a great job coming in, putting the time in. Really a lot of extra meetings, extra walk-throughs, really handled himself extremely well from a mental standpoint.”

The Buccaneers (6-3) visit the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
