Alex Smith Opens Up About Thanksgiving, Life-Altering Injury

Washington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith sat down with the NFL Network's Kurt Warner for a personal interview on the injury that changed his life.

Smith said Thanksgiving now takes on a different meaning for him. "It will forever be changed for me and my family." Smith goes on, "Life is different."

After spending his rehab time at the Center of Intrepid, Smith credited much of his recovery to the military and their approach to wellness.

This is a must-watch:

At the "lowest" point of his recovery, Smith wondered if he would ever walk again, if he would ever play with his kids again.

"I'm getting my second chance," he tells Warner. "We need to take more than one day a year to realize how lucky we are."

"Thanksgiving will forever be such a special day for me and my family."

How great of a guy is Alex Smith? Just awesome.
