Early in the game, Baker Mayfield was rushed and eventually brought down tonight against the Baltimore Ravens. To the naked eye, it was a clean hit, but tonight’s officials still decided the hit was too much and called a personal foul.
The NFL is becoming soft beyond recognition.

This isn’t an illegal hit in any way. The broadcast even mentioned afterwards that “the contact to the helmet was minimal,” so the flag should’ve been picked up. NFL fans and analysts have claimed defense is nonexistent, but maybe players just aren’t allowed to play defense anymore? In this case, a clean hit was shot down with a 15-yard penalty.
The NFL isn’t the only league that could use a massive officiating overhaul. Officiating in the NFL and NBA have made the fan experience nearly impossible. Figure it out, commissioners.
Thank goodness Cleveland is getting rid of the Indian nickname that will solve many problems like with officiating!
Remember when Monday Night Football was must see tv? I, along with my buddies from work would take turns hosting through the entire season. How bad has it gotten for me? Not only did I forget there was football tonight, I forgot it was Monday. Feels like a Tuesday. Wouldn’t have watched anyways. NFL refs are a big reason why. Right after the woke bullshit. Its been excruciating for several years. My opinion on the roughing the passer stuff. Defense has to yell out 5 alligator or 5 Mississippi before they begin their rush. If they get to QB after that, all bets are off and anything goes.
The Nanny State is omnipresent. Oh, and the lawyers.
Agreed. Defenses aren’t allowed to play defense. All the rules are set up to benefit the offenses. Casual fans want to watch shoot outs not 13-9 games.
Between the BurnLootMurder Wokeness and the shitty officiating, the NFL has all but disappeared from my mind unless the Chargers are playing. Those are the times I wish i could forget it completely. Plus the defense isn’t allowed to hit anymore, which is turning it into pussyfied touch football.
This is simply a reflection of our society unfortunately. We have a media and entertainment class with way more influence than their credentials deserve. They are pushing this hoax of a “utopia of complete safety”. Corporations blindly nod along and try to appease these loudmouths thinking they’ll leave them alone long enough to go back to lighting cigars with 100 dollar bills. As long as we let this ruling corporate class continue to monopolize everything to hold us hostage this will continue to get more ridiculous. They are the ones agreeing to this foolishness.
