We are down to four teams — the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills in the AFC, and Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC. Everyone else? Yeah, they’re dreaming off the offseason.
That means the 2021 NFL Draft. New coach Urban Meyer and the Jacksonville Jaguars have the top pick. The entire world seems to know they are taking Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
But how might the first round play out? Here’s one alleged writer’s list of surely many to come on this very website:
- Jacksonville: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson
- NY Jets: Zach Wilson, QB, BYU
- Miami: DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama
- Atlanta: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
- Cincinnati: Penei Sewll, OT, Oregon
- Philadelphia: Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State
- Detroit: Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU
- Carolina: Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State
- Denver: Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama
- Dallas: Gregory Rousseau, DE/LB, Miami
- NY Giants: Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech
- San Francisco: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame
- LA Chargers: Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern
- Minnesota: Kwity Paye, DE/LB, Michigan
- New England: Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
- Arizona: Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida
- Las Vegas: Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
- Miami: Wyatt Davis, LB, Ohio State
- Washington: Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech
- Chicago: Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas
- Indianapolis: Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama
- Tennessee: Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota
- NY Jets: Joseph Ossai, LB, Texas
- Pittsburgh: Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson
- Jacksonville: Alex Leatherwood, OT, Alabama
- Cleveland: Dylan Moses, LB, Alabama
- Baltimore: Zaven Collins, LB/DE, Tulsa
- New Orleans: Rondale Moore, WR, Purdue
- Tampa Bay: Nick Bolton, LB, Missouri
- Buffalo: Alijah Vera-Tucker, LB, USC
- Green Bay: Jaylen Mayfield, OT, Michigan
- Kansas City: Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame
I think Justin Fields is in a better place with Atlanta than the Jets.
Jaylen waddle at 21 would be steal of the draft
Pitts to Arizona would help that offense continue to grow. Good replacement for short yardage if Fitz retires.
I would love to see Surtain drop one more spot to the Cowboys; our secondary is awful. We have CBs and safeties starting who shouldn’t even be on an NFL roster.
Tim, as a fellow cowboys fan I agree. We haven’t had a good secondary in years (maybe decades) but once we overpay Dak I don’t know if it will matter. 10 years of .500 ball in our future.
San Francisco with a LB?
No thanks
Another round of first round QB’s to flop in the next four years. At my age it’s impossible to get excited about “next.” How about more “prove it?” Of course, that doesn’t fit with the 365 day hype machine that needs daily fuel. I can remember when the games were the actual excitement and point of the leagues.
