New York Jets Come To Terms With Bengals Pass-Rusher Carl Lawson

The New York Jets continue to upgrade their roster as free agency starts in the league. Reports now say that the team has inked Bengals pass-rusher Carl Lawson to a deal.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network and Jack Browne of The Score reported the signing early Tuesday.

Money-wise, Lawson is reportedly getting $47.4 million with $30 million guaranteed for a three-year deal.

The pass rusher had 8.5 sacks as a rookie back in 2017, five in 2019 and 5.5 sacks in 2020, missing 13 games total due to injury.

The signing of Lawson came hours after the Jets came to terms with receiver Corey Davis, who comes to New York from the Titans.

Davis, the fifth overall pick in 2017, now has a three-year, $37.5 million contract that includes $27 million in guarantees, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Jets also added linebacker Jarrad Davis, a former first-round pick by the Lions, to help out the team's defense.

The Bengals drafted Lawson in the fourth round in 2017, and he overall has 20 sacks in his four seasons in Cincinnati. He has played in 51 games overall with 14 starts.

Reports say that the Jets are hopeful that they can combine Lawson in a tag team with defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to rush the quarterback and make plays on defense for new coach Robert Saleh.
