Netflix To Stream Video Games In 2022

If you are a gamer and subscribe to Netflix, you'll be happy to know that the company is set to offer video games on its platform by 2022.

It'll be the first time that Netflix offers anything than television and movies.

The expansion for Netflix isn't a surprise. For the last two years, the streaming service has been trying to get into the video game market.

In a letter to its shareholders in 2019, Netflix wrote: “We compete with (and lose to) ‘Fortnite’ more than HBO.”

“There’s no doubt that games are going to be an important form of entertainment and important modality to deepen that fan experience, so we’re going to keep going,” COO and Chief Product Officer Greg Peters said when discussing expansion on Netflix’s earnings call in April.

Things could change before 2022 when they look to launch video games, but for now, the company isn't planning on charging extra for the additional services.

It will be a big undertaking for Netflix. Amazon Game Studios has spent over $500 million on different gaming projects since 2014.
