Congrats To Devin Booker, First Athlete To Avoid The Kardashian Curse

The Kardashian curse was a current that no athlete has ever handled well -- until Devin Booker became Michael Phelps. His Suns sent King James packing in six games, and then annihilated the Denver Nuggets, as I predicted they would, in four.

Devin Booker is slaying this curse.

Before Booker, Lamar Odom went from a revolutionary ball-handling power forward to a junky cheating on Khloe Kardashian. The marriage was officially called off, and Odom's career was already in shambles. Now he's engaging in celebrity boxing matches for a quick cash grab.

Then we have Kris Humphries, who lasted only 72 days with Kim Kardashian. Who can blame him? And technically speaking, Humphries didn't do much for the curse considering how mediocre he was at basketball before walking down the aisle.

James Harden was another pitstop for Khloe Kardashian. They got together in the fall of 2015. By 2016, rumor had it the MVP cheated on her and ended that partnership.

The following year, Harden actually spoke to the media about it.

"I didn’t like all the attention,” Harden told Sports Illustrated. "I feel like it was for no reason. I wasn’t getting anything out of it except my name out there and my face out there, and I don’t need that."

Devin Booker and Kendall Jenner celebrated their one-year anniversary two days ago. We've heard literally nothing out of that camp, and for good reason. Kendall has a strict "no boyfriend" rule on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Maybe that's why Booker and Suns are having this much success?

And as a Suns fan, I actually had faith in Booker regardless of how Kendall managed this relationship. Booker is a Twitch streamer who happens to be unreal at basketball. It's not luck, of course. He works his tail off, just like his mentor Kobe Bryant did, but he doesn't seem to care about the glamor life.

You could also argue that Harden dropped Khloe and reeled in MVP awards. Someone else would tell you no Kardashian boyfriend has been himself in the playoffs when it matters.

But now Devin Booker has been a monster in this year's playoffs, and you love to see it.
