NASCAR 'Actively Considering' Confederate Flag Policy Switch

As our nation reevaluates racial matters in the wake of George Floyd's death at the hands of Minneapolis Police, NASCAR has faced a lot of calls to get rid of the Confederate flags that you often see draped amongst their audience. Thus, it does not qualify as a major surprise that Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal reports that NASCAR is actively considering changing their policy:

This comes after NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace went on CNN on Monday night and said Confederate flags should be banned from the races:

“We are trying to figure out next steps. My next step would be to get rid of all Confederate flags,” Wallace said (transcription via Yahoo). “There should be no individual that is uncomfortable showing up to our events to have a good time with their family that feels some type of way about something they have seen, an object they have seen flying. No one should feel uncomfortable when they come to a NASCAR race. So it starts with Confederate flags. Get them out of here. They have no place for them.”

In 2015, NASCAR asked fans to stop bringing Confederate flags to races, though stopped short of an outright ban.
