Trevor Bauer Administrative Leave Extended Again

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer's administrative leave was extended a third time on Tuesday.

ESPN reports the leave was extended through Aug. 6 and given to Bauer by the MLB with consent by the MLB Players Association. Administrative leave, in this case, is a non-disciplinary measure that guarantees a player his salary and service time while investigations continue for an additional 10 days.

In June, an investigation began and a restraining order was filed against the Dodgers ace for an assault that allegedly took place earlier this year.

OutKick previously reported the restraining order filed against him includes graphic descriptions of a consensual sexual encounter that allegedly turned violent. Bauer’s camp said the protection order is a temporary ex parte restraining order, which means that nothing has been corroborated and that her statement is taken at face value without giving him an opportunity to respond.

ESPN reports the civil hearing for the temporary restraining order obtained against Bauer will take place Monday and Tuesday in L.A. County Superior Court and is expected to last two or three days. Day 3 of that hearing, however, won't take place until Aug. 19.

ESPN's Jeff Passan reports that while the pitcher's leave has been extended, he remains under investigation by Pasadena police and the MLB after a woman claims he sexually assaulted her. He said the extension was expected, and Bauer continues to get paid.

OutKick previously reported the league first put Bauer on paid leave on July 2 under the joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy adopted by MLB and the players union in 2015.

Earlier in July, MLB officials said they were hoping to meet with the woman who said she was sexually assaulted by Bauer, and the 2020 National League Cy Young award winner's administrative leave includes a ban from entering the Dodgers complex.

Bauer's bobble night event in August has also been canceled.

Bauer was in attendance on Friday for a court hearing, which was pushed to Aug. 2 as his attorney asked for more time to prepare due to recently received medical records and exhibits, OutKick previously reported. The three-day hearing is now set to take place on Aug. 2, 3 and 19.

OutKick's Matt Loede reports that Bauer’s accuser is likely to testify, and if she does, Bauer will be called as a witness. His attorney has advised him to invoke his Fifth Amendment rights.
