VIDEO: Sen. Mitch McConnell Congratulates President-Elect Joe Biden

Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell acknowledged former Vice President Joe Biden as the President-elect during a speech on the Senate floor.

“The Electoral College has spoken,” McConnell said before congratulating Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

"As of this morning, our country officially has a president-elect and a vice president-elect," McConnell goes on.

Monday night, all 538 electors voted in the Electoral College, formalizing Joe Biden's 306-232 victory over President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election. Next, the votes will be sent to Washington on January 6 and counted by Congress.

Other Senate Republicans have not recognized Biden's win.

McConnell then spoke on the Trump administration's wins:

"It would take far more than one speech to catalog all the major wins the Trump administration has helped deliver for the American people," he said. "The outsider who swore he would shake up Washington and lead our country to new accomplishments, both at home and abroad, proceeded to do exactly that. President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence deserve our thanks and our gratitude for their tireless work and their essential roles in all these victories and in many more."

While President Trump has not conceded the election, last week the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a Texas lawsuit for a "lack of standing."

In a lawsuit supported by Trump, Texas tried to sue Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Michigan, claiming it had been disadvantaged in the Electoral College by the four states' handlings.

McConnell's run as one of the most powerful voices in Washington will continue if the Republicans win one of the two senatorial elections in the Georgia runoff.
