Michael Jordan's Golf Course Has Drone Drink & Food Delivery, No Cart Girls

Something very strange is going on at Michael Jordan's new golf course, The Grove XXIII. Cart girls there have been replaced by drone delivery. As if 2020 wasn't crazy enough, the world is now learning that MJ's ultra-exclusive course in Hobe Sound, Florida is delivering food and drinks to golfers via drones that carry bags of food and boxes loaded with bottled beer.

Videos showing Grove XXIII drones in action surfaced over the weekend. The drones lower goods down to golfers as if the golfers are soldiers in war waiting for supplies to be dropped to them in the bush. In one Instagram video, a drone lowers 10 beers and what looks to be a mixed drink onto a tee box to be retrieved by thirsty golfers. In another video posted by retired tennis player Caroline Wozniacki, a golfer is shown grabbing a bag of supplies from the drone.

The Bobby Weed designed course opened this year at No. 9 on Golf Magazine's Best Golf Courses in Florida list, but it's so exclusive you'll likely never get to experience in-person drink delivery at MJ's course for yourself. It's an invite-only place.

As of May, according to Golf.com, there were fewer than 100 members, and the list of those with access to this place is a who's who of sports figures and Jordan's friends. Phil Mickelson joined. MJ's business partner Denny Hamlin's in. All the big boys in the golfing world have stopped by.

Rickie Fowler said in November on the "Subpar" podcast that Jordan can hit drivers on nearly all of the par 4s and 5s.

“It’s his golf course, so it’s set up very well for him … It’s almost the shorter you hit it, the wider it is. The tees and pins are done every day, so the golf course basically sets up around him. They can play as long as you want, but they set the back tees at roughly, you know, 7,000 to 7,100 (yards), and MJ plays the back tees wherever they set them.”

And what MJ wants at his course, he gets. Cart girls can cause chaos for membership. The answer is drone delivery.
