Miami QB Tate Martell To Transfer Yet Again

Tate Martell, the former Ohio State quarterback, is now the soon-to-be former Miami quarterback, as Martell is back in the transfer portal, as revealed by Rivals.com.

Martell started his college career at Ohio State in 2017 and transferred to Miami after the 2018 season. It wasn’t such a bad idea, considering that the Buckeyes had just landed Justin Fields, a transfer from George who is now a sure-fire first round pick in the NFL draft.

Meanwhile, Martell appeared in five games and threw just one pass in his entire career with the Hurricanes, all of which came in 2019. He opted out this past season and will have two years of eligibility remaining at his new program.

Martell did show promise during his time at Ohio State. In 2018, he was the backup to Dwayne Haskins, appearing in six games and completing 23-of-28 passes for 269 yards and a TD. He also rushed for two touchdowns.

  1. 2 years left, might as well. With King coming back and a couple good recruits coming to Miami he likely wasn’t going to play. Plus he already has a degree, go wherever the situation is best.
