Mets OF Kevin Pillar 'Doing Fine' After Taking Scary Fastball To The Face

It was a scene that you never want to see in Major League Baseball.

Mets outfielder Kevin Pillar took a pitch to the face during Monday's game, and was forced to leave as blood poured out of his nose.

The pitch that Pillar took clean was thrown by Atlanta Braves reliever Jacob Webb, and clearly looked to be thrown on accident.

After the game, which the Mets won 3-1, Mets manager Luis Rojas said that Pillar left Truist Field in Atlanta to go to the hospital and undergo a CT scan.

Pillar himself put out a tweet that claimed that he was "doing fine."

Webb hit Pillar in the nose with what looked to be a rising 94 mph fastball. Right away, Pillar fell to the ground, and blood could be seen coming from Pillar's nose. The incident took place during the 7th inning.

"You never want to see anyone get hit in the face or in the head by a ball, especially coming at that velocity," Mets pitcher Taijuan Walker said after the game.

"Pillar is a tough guy. It's just one of those things where you just shake your head and you're sick to your stomach."
