Mets Gonna Met: Cespedes Story Now Has ‘Two Sides’

In the most New York Mets fashion ever, Tim Healey is reporting that Yoenis Cespedes’ agent insists the team was told of his opt-out before the game. Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo claims he’s heard both sides:

The organization is a shipwreck from top to bottom, explaining ownership’s push to sell the team this past offseason. Nimmo clearly doesn’t trust management in New York and no one’s going to blame him, considering the team’s past. All parties will be working to get the truth out there and if the Mets are proven to have lied about Cespedes’ opt-out, their image may never recover.

For all we know both stories could be true. Yoenis Cespedes broke his ankle in the 2019 fighting off a wild boar, so why the hell would we be shocked he quit his job cold turkey? The Mets and Cespedes are in what looks like a race to tarnish their names, so we’ll see who comes out on top.

Expect a report explaining EXACTLY what happened in the coming days.
