Mets ace Jacob DeGrom is always filthy, but today he took over baseball Twitter with a 102 MPH fastball and a 95 MPH slider. Check out this devastating stuff from the 2-time Cy Young winner:

Velocity is noticeably up across Major League Baseball, but DeGrom’s fastball is second-best in the game (98.6). Not even sure if the fastball was the most impressive part of this video as he rips Juan Soto’s soul out his body with a slider. If you’re wondering how many guys in the big leagues throw a slider like this look no further. Jacob DeGrom throws the hardest slider in the bigs, and it’s not close:

Everything DeGrom does is peak performance that makes his annual Cy Young level seasons an expectation. We’re incredibly lucky to have social media around these days so we don’t miss a beat on his historic career. Days like these make us thankful we write for a living instead of trying to hit this guy.
Gary, DeGrom certainly has talent. No argument from me……but reading this caused me to do a quick search of my favorite Pitcher of all time, Pedro Martinez. Pedro, at his best, in 2000, had a .737 WHIP. And I think the only players ever with a WHIP lower than that pitched before 1910 or something like that.I also just watched some highlights of a 2000 game Pedro pitched against the Yankees (1 hit, 17k’s)…But I guess if Degrom can remind me of Pedro, that’s saying something. (but I am not putting DeGrom in Pedro’s class. Pedro stands alone)
I like Nolan Ryan pretty good heater and a pretty good punch too just ask Robin Ventura lol
