Melvin Ingram Already Pumped About Being A Steeler

Since inking a one-year deal with Pittsburgh last week, edge rusher Melvin Ingram appears to have found his sweet tooth. Now donning the black and yellow, the long-time Charger reportedly feels like "a kid in a candy store." Then again, he may have just walked by Big Ben's locker...

Lining up with the likes of T.J. Watt and the stout Pittsburgh defense has the veteran pumped. “Can’t forget about (Alex Highsmith) either. He’s definitely special,” said Ingram, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “It’s a blessing for me to be here to play on the opposite side of (Watt) and Highsmith. It’s just great to play with all these guys. I’m like a kid in a candy store.”

After tallying 49 career sacks over his first nine seasons, Ingram was limited to just seven games in 2020 because of a knee injury. His age (32) and the banged up knee made teams hesitant to offer Ingram a contract, but he says he isn't slowing down anytime soon. “I feel like I’m 18. I feel like a kid. I still have a lot left in me,” Ingram insisted.

He ultimately singed a one-year, $4 million deal in the Steel City. And though Steeler coaches haven't specified his role, Ingram's not fretting. “They just said come in and work hard and everything will take care of itself,” Ingram told the Post-Gazette. “So that’s what I’m doing. I’m just working and falling in line with the guys.”

They may not be the "Steel Curtain," but who's to say they can't be the "Sugar Rush"?
