Media Training Came In Handy For Trey Lance When Asked About The 49ers

North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance was questioned about his interactions with the San Francisco 49ers and was able to navigate some tough questions pretty well.

"How are your Zooms with the 49ers, Trey?" Rich Eisen asked the quarterback during The Rich Eisen Show, reported by 49ers Webzone.

"I actually ... um," Lance said before pausing.

"They've been going well," Lance continued. "I haven't had anymore with them than I've had with any other team. But definitely looking forward to , like I said, finding out where I'm going to be. I wish I knew, just as much as you do. Probably more. But I really don't know where I'm going to end up at. So, hopefully, Thursday, we'll find out."

When asked how many conversations Lance has had with San Francisco since the team traded up to the No. 3 spot on March 26, Lance said he's had just a few phone calls.

"I don't even know if I've had a Zoom with them in the last four weeks, honestly," Lance said. "Maybe one Zoom with them. But other than that, it's just been phone calls, and not like it's an everyday thing or anything like that. Just their regular housekeeping, making sure they've got my contact info, things like that."

The article states head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch helped make sure Lance held a second pro day at North Dakota State on April 19. Other teams were in attendance, but it reportedly had the feel of a 49ers-run workout, 49ers Webzone reports.

"I just wanted to give teams an opportunity to see me again," Lance said. "I obviously played one game in 2020, so people didn't get to see me, a large sample size of me, and I understand only playing 17 games, and things like that. But I wanted to give people another chance to see me throw and do whatever they wanted to see me do, first and foremost, before Thursday."
