Trailer For 'Tuck Rule' Documentary, Focusing On Controversial Tom Brady Non-Fumble, Released

Pretty much the only good thing remaining about ESPN is those 30 for 30 documentaries, and the next one has the potential to be one of the all-time greats.

If nothing else, it's centered on one of the all-time greats. That would be none other than Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, who way back in 2001 was still the QB of the Patriots and on his way to his first Super Bowl win.

This particular 30 for 30 episode, entitled "The Tuck Rule: The Call That Changed it All," focuses on what appeared to be a Brady fumble, but was ruled otherwise in the AFC playoffs vs. the then-Oakland Raiders.

"Obviously without that win, Brady doesn’t win his first championship that year, and while he still likely would have turned out to be one of the best of all time, history undeniably would have been changed," wrote Jay Rigdon of Awful Announcing.

ESPN has already released the trailer for "The Tuck Rule," scheduled to be aired Feb. 6, one week before Super Bowl LVI.

The film is directed by 30 for 30 veteran Ken Rogers and Nick Mascolo and features Brady and former Raiders defensive back Charles Woodson in a room together to analyze the play and discuss its aftermath. Woodson made the hit on Brady that caused the non-fumble.

"The Tuck Rule is certainly one of the most controversial calls in the history of sports, but it may also be one of its most consequential," Rogers said in an ESPN press release. "It proves that one moment, this moment, any moment, can change our lives -- just as it did for Brady and Woodson twenty years ago today. It was awe-inspiring to hear these two friends talk with each other about that moment for the first time in their lives. Their emotions about that night are still fresh.”
