Dave Portnoy Jumps in Howard Stern Vs. Joe Rogan COVID Debate
Howard Stern continues to take shots at Joe Rogan over his stance on the coronavirus and vaccine. Interestingly, while Rogan has not responded, Barstool's founder Dave Portnoy has.
Here are Stern's comments aimed at Rogan, who has not taken the vaccine:
"We have no time for idiots in this country anymore. We don't want you. We want you to all either go the hospital, and stay home, die there with your COVID. Don't take the cure, but don't clog up our hospitals with your COVID when you finally get it. Stay home. Don't bother with science, it's too late. Go f--- yourself, we just don't have time for you.
"When are we gonna stop putting up with the idiots in this country and just say, 'It's mandatory to get vaccinated'? F--- 'em. F--- their freedom. I want my freedom to live. I want to get out of the house already. I want to go next door and play chess. I want to go take some pictures. This is bulls---. If you have a heart attack or any kind of problem, you can't even get into the E.R. And I'm really of a mind to say, 'Look, if you didn't get vaccinated and you got COVID, you don't get into a hospital.'"
For background, Stern, who is vaccinated, rarely leaves his house these days over fears of the virus. So who better to add into the mix than Dave Portnoy?
On his podcast this week, Portnoy said Stern has "become hypocritical."
"He seems like somebody who slung it and would do anything and he's quick now to, like, wag his finger at you. He almost seems like he'd be wagging his finger at a younger self, if that makes any sense," Portnoy adds.
So what's going on here?
As Portnoy acknowledged, Stern "revolutionized everything." What's so bizarre is that the Stern who revolutionized broadcasting spent decades mocking the kind of person Stern is today.
While Stern remains one of the best broadcasters in the country, he now lacks curiosity. Stern does not have an open mind anymore. He instead has a judgmental view of anyone outside of his Hollywood circle.
As a result, Howard Stern has abandoned the marketplace demand he created. The need for mavericks, independent thinkers, and honest voices. Ironically, Joe Rogan and Dave Portnoy have benefited the most from Stern's transformation.
The story isn't about which broadcasters are right about the vaccine and which are wrong. Instead, it's that Joe Rogan and Dave Portnoy now ask the questions Stern won't -- they challenge our leaders and expose their incompetence. Rogan and Portnoy are open to opposing viewpoints. Meanwhile, Stern is defending Dr. Fauci and belittling anyone who dares to question the government's role in mandating vaccines for all.
