Chris Cuomo Blasts 'Woke Folks Criticizing Thanksgiving'
There's a small, opportunistic group in America known as the "woke." While small in size, these perpetually aggrieved peasants have gained influence over the country's leading institutions.
But like every overachieving group in history, the woke have dealt poorly with their success. Most recently, progressives aimed at The Uncancelables -- Aaron Rodgers, Dave Chappelle, and Tucker Carlson -- and lost. Rodgers, Chappelle, and Carlson didn't comply, thus exposing the woke's vulnerability.
Still, the social justice vultures continue to push further Left, though some have warned that doing so could cost them some supporters. Now, even CNN's Chris Cuomo has had enough.
On his SiriusXM show Let's Get After It Tuesday, Cuomo said that Thanksgiving is his favorite holiday and that the woke folks are trying to ruin it.
"(Thanksgiving) is my jam," Cuomo says via Mediaite. "And now you woke folks trying to kill it for me."
"Listen, man, you know, don't come up at me with all this pilgrim stuff. I don't give a damn about the pilgrims and the indigenous people, the Native Americans, the Indians, wherever, whatever, whatever group of them wants to be called. I don't care about any of that."
Cuomo goes on to say, "I care about suffrage. I care about the exploitation. But I don't need that story for Thanksgiving. I don't need it at all."
Cuomo likely meant suffering, not suffrage, but you get his point.
Earlier this week, Change.org published a petition that demands that the Wall Street Journal stop posting its annual Thanksgiving editorials, and more than 50,000 people signed the petition. Change.org argues that celebrating Thanksgiving promotes genocidal practices against Indigenous people. The Journal says it will not stop printing the editorials, handing the woke another L.
The argument against Thanksgiving, and most historical events, stems from the Left's demand that the country view the past through present-day lenses. That way, each person and event appears -- you guessed it -- racist.
So to buy into the woke ideology, you have to subscribe to the point of view that Americans should take history out of context and rewrite it. You even have to cancel former U.S. presidents.
"The idea that Thomas Jefferson's got to go, he owned slaves. They all owned slaves, unless they didn't have the money," Cuomo said.
Think about it: if we erase history, we hardly have a country. That appears to be the motive behind the proposed cancellations of American historical figures and celebrations.
Credit to Chris Cuomo for speaking out against the idea of canceling Thanksgiving. Cuomo's voice on this topic matters.
Bill Maher has become the most powerful voice against the woke takeover in media because his Real Time viewers are primarily liberal. While Tucker Carlson has a far larger audience than Maher, liberals dismiss Carlson as a white nationalist or something. But Maher reaches progressives, some of whom will eventually realize how few Americans align with the woke mission.
Chris Cuomo should have a similar impact on Thanksgiving.
