BREAKING: Derek Chauvin Sentenced In Killing Of George Floyd

JUST IN: Derek Chauvin has been sentenced to 22.5 years, 270 months, in prison.

For context, Minnesota sentencing guidelines recommend that first-time offenders, as Chauvin is, are sentenced to 150 months or 12½ years in prison. However, Judge Peter Cahill said that he considered four "aggravating factors" that led to a longer sentence than guidelines suggest.

Chauvin, 45, was convicted in April on charges of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter for his role in George Floyd's death.
