Americans Did Not Care About Joe Biden's CNN Town Hall
President Joe Biden and the news crew at CNN teamed up for a town hall on Thursday night. According to early Nielsen Media Research, the Biden-CNN combination averaged 1.2 million viewers from 8 pm to 9:30 pm ET. For a presidential town hall, that's bad. Awful, actually.
Further, the event drew 271,000 viewers in the 25 to 54-year-old demographic.
Biden's previous CNN town halls drew 1.46 million viewers and 3.4 million in July and February, respectively.
CNN's town hall trailed Fox News and MSNBC's head-to-head talk programming based on the same early data research. An average of 2.83 million viewers watched Tucker Carlson (8 to 9 pm) and the first half of Sean Hannity (9 to 9:30), while 1.39 viewers chose Chris Hayes (8 to 9 pm) and Rachel Maddow (9 to 9:30).
As Joe Concha explains:
"The drop in interest in what the president has to say on important issues and policy can't be underscored enough. There's so much at stake, particularly as it pertains to Biden's massive Build Back Better plan, which would add at least $2 trillion in spending to an economy that is suffering the highest core inflation the country has seen in 30 years.
"Here we have Biden in a free fall, with Quinnipiac's latest polling putting him at 28 percent approval among independents and 37 percent approval overall. In the RealClearPolitics average of polls, the president is down 10 points in just three months, with his standing currently at only 42.8 percent."
Here's the deal: Joe Biden does not move Americans. He never has. His voters supported him only because he wasn't Donald Trump. Finally, CNN's Anderson Cooper has no appetite for challenging a Democrat. Thursday's town hall was a waste of time as it didn't accomplish anything.
Conclusion: CNN and Biden are not a successful duo.
