Matt Ryan, Jon Robinson Speak On The Titans Acquiring WR Julio Jones

It seemed like it took forever, but the Atlanta Falcons were finally able to do enough, working with the AFC South's Tennessee Titans for a trade for wide out Julio Jones.

Atlanta packaged the long time veteran pass catcher as well as a 2023 draft pick to the Titans for a 2nd-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and a 4th-round pick in the 2023 Draft.

Sunday, Jones showed up on a private plane in Nashville ready to try and make the Titans' offense better. Last season, coach Mike Vrabel led the Titans to a first-round loss at home to the AFC North's Baltimore Ravens.

Titans GM Jon Robinson was pumped to be able to acquire a player with the resume and history.

"Excited to add Julio to the football team. He's excited to be part of what we've got going on in Nashville. It's a big day for our team."

One player who knows Jones as well as anyone is now former quarterback Matt Ryan, who lost his No. 1 pass catcher with the deal on Sunday, leaving him with Calvin Ridley as his go-to receiver.

Ryan was well aware of the trade Sunday, and went on Instagram to give Jones love for their relationship over the last decade.

“No player has impacted my career as much as Julio Jones. The best WR in the league the past decade! Wishing him continued success in Nashville. Not sure who I’m going to play cards with on the flights home now. Thank you for all you did for Atlanta and for being such a great teammate!” Ryan wrote on Instagram.

We will see how Jones performs in Tennessee, or if it's a bust of a move for the Titans in 2021.
