Marlins Minor League Affiliate Selling Daily Naming Rights To Their Stadium

The Beloit Snappers, a minor league affiliate of the Miami Marlins, is taking a new approach to selling stadium rights.

Forbes reports that the Snappers are selling their rights not on a yearly or even monthly basis, but on a DAILY basis -- auctioning the rights off to fans.

So how much does it cost to buy the rights for a night? Well that all depends. Since it's an auction, the price could skyrocket.

The team has decided to start the bidding at $500 per night, with a “buy it now” option of $1,000 for weekday games and $1,500 for weekend games.

Beloit has been in the process of building ABC Supply Stadium, which is scheduled to be opened in June of this year.

Proceeds for the naming rights go to the Boys & Girls Club. Not only do you get naming rights, but also you receive eight game tickets and the opportunity to lead the singing for the seventh-inning stretch.

Over the years, the minor leagues have come up with all kinds of different promotions to make money and to increase attendance.

It remains to be seen how successful the new Beloit promotion will be, but if nothing else, it should be a fun storyline to follow throughout the season.
