Just when I'm rolling along with Screencaps, writing for the common man out there who might be roofing houses, plumbing new builds or hauling toilets for Home Depot's distribution network, along comes an email on Veterans Day that reminds me that this site reaches all levels.
Wednesday I put out a call to readers to tell me about their military service or to shout out a loved one who has served his/her country.

So when folks are struggling with how can they do Indy Daryl's Hard Things, maybe they can look at Jack H Lucas' story of what a teenager very purposely did to defend his country and save his fellow soldiers. Gets me motivated every time I think about it.

US Navy, Polaris Missile Technician, 76-82. At 20 years old I was working on Nuclear Weapons onboard a Nuclear Powered Submarine patrolling several hundred feet deep in the Pacific Ocean for 75+ days submerged per patrol. US Navy Missile Submarines have been on patrol 24/7/365 for over 50 years. Give a shout out to the sailors out there right now, standing the watch.

I served in the Navy during the 60’s on the USS Putnam. Due to the Vietnam War, I saw a lot of countries. However, my ship never made it to Vietnam, which I regretted. My Dad served in the Navy for 26 years, serving in Subs during WW2 and surface ships afterward. I was planning to also be a lifer, but the GI Bill changed that. Could not pass up that opportunity.

I served in the U.S. Army from '86-'91 and served in Germany and Desert Shield/Desert Storm. My MOS was 63C (trucker) and I spent my time overseas jamming gears and blowing smoke for Uncle Sam. Keep up the strong work!

Enjoy your columns on OutKick and I catch every day. I am an Air Force retiree serving almost 23 years before retiring in 2007. Was stationed at Wright-Patt near Dayton 1996-2000 so I have some Ohio blood in me. Kinda.
I live here in sunny Melbourne, FL now but am a native Hoosier and Purdue grad so I am a Big Ten alum through and through. I do enjoy NOT shoveling snow since being stationed here in 2004. Rooting for my Boilermakers against the Buckeyes this weekend…not optimistic with the game in Columbus but will be watching for sure.
I am not a TNML member because my work schedule keeps me a Saturday morning grass cutter but love the posts and your members. Discouraged by our current leadership in DC but encouraged by recent election results. Would vote a thousand times if I could for MY governor Ron DeSantis if he runs for POTUS! God Bless all our vets out there and Happy Veterans Day!!!
• Thank you to all that have served or continue to serve the country. I've probably written about this in the past, but one of the most inspiring moments of my work career came in 2015 when Crown Royal sent me to Indianapolis for the Jeff Kyle Brickyard 400. It was there that I met several military vets who were being honored, including Brendan Marrocco who was the first U.S. soldier serving in Iraq or Afghanistan to survive a quadruple amputation. The guy had a smile on his face the entire weekend. He absolutely loves NASCAR and racing in general.
I quit complaining about little things real fast after meeting Brendan, that's for sure. Suddenly, all the Crown drinks and the food were A+ and it was no longer blazing hot in Indy in July for the race.
I'd love to continue to hear from you guys beyond Veterans Day on service and what it meant to you. Don't be shy to drop a message. This community can't get enough of the stories about life that the emailers share.

Hearing from everyday Americans about lumber prices, firewood, doing hard things, TNML, Sports tailgates, etc. is what makes it the best column. I mean I feel like I want to go down to Tennessee and help Todd W. move his family across the country.
I cannot wait to hear from the veterans tomorrow.
