Kyle Trask, Named For TAMU Field, Is Set For Homecoming Of Sorts

This Saturday in College Station will be an odd experience for Florida Gators quarterback Kyle Allen, whose family is so crazy about Texas A&M football that he's named after Kyle Field.

The Manvel, TX native will be playing at a place his family reveres, but a place where the young man has yet to watch a real game.

"Never actually went to a real game, but I went to -- the only one I can remember -- I went to Johnny Manziel's spring game. That was about it," Trask said this week during his conference call with reporters.

Then Trask was thrown a softball by a reporter. He was asked about his name and its backstory.

"Well, you asked me that question on the perfect week,'' he said. "My whole family is full of Aggies. They named me after Kyle Field at Texas A&M as far as I know. That's what I was told."

Hope you're ready for this to become a huge storyline Saturday when the two teams face off on ESPN because the Worldwide Leader isn't letting this one go. Trask's ties to A&M will be highlighted no less than a half-dozen times between GameDay and the actual game broadcast.

"I'm definitely going to have to get a lot of tickets for this week for a lot of family making the drive up there,'' he said. "It will just be an exciting time to play against a team that I grew up watching. I would say, probably like, over 50 percent of my entire family probably went to college at A&M. I was definitely raised to hate the Longhorns."

Somehow Trask got out of the press conference without answering whether his family will be rooting for him during Saturday's game.
