Kyle Larson Ready To Get Back On Track With New Crew Chief

NASCAR driver Kyle Larson is ready to rally back to the top division for the 2021 Cup Series, and Hendrick Motorsports is pulling for him.

Larson is Hendrick’s new recruit and said he can’t wait for the opportunity to work with crew chief Cliff Daniels.

“I’m excited to be with Cliff,” Larson said, via the Hendrick website. “He’s a different kind of crew chief than I’ve ever had. He’s young, he’s just very, very driven and focused and a perfectionist. He’s got a pretty intense character about him. I’m excited about that — getting a chance to be teamed up with somebody that, I think, will hold me accountable and do a great job.”

Larson is coming off quite a year on the dirt tracks, capturing more than 40 races. But he admitted the Cup season is a different beast. There is but one dirt track in the series.

“I imagine there might be some growing pains in the beginning with no practices and things like that and trying to get used to a new team and new guys, but they have so much experience and knowledge there, and I have three teammates I can lean on for advice,” Larson said told SiriusXM. “I think we should be able to get up to speed quickly.”

Larson, 28, drives the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE for Hendrick. He was the 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East champion and Rookie of the Year, the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year as well as the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year. He also won the Chili Bowl Nationals in 2020 and 2021.

  1. I strongly suggest he says how great Bubba Wallace is at every interview so he can stay in the good graces of NASCAR & the sports press. Meanwhile Bubba can continue to tell us how evil America is.
