Free-swinging slugger Khris Davis is back with the Athletics after the team called him up earlier this morning. Davis cranked 10 homers in just 16 games with the Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators, so this move is fitting as the team looks for that late push for the second wildcard spot.

Khris Davis, in general, is exactly what Major League Baseball has become. A ton of homers, walks, and a plethora of swing-and-missing. And now that the A’s added outfielder Starling Marte at the deadline, who prioritizes contact, reimplementing Khris Davis makes a ton of sense.
First baseman Matt Olson has also cut down on strikeouts drastically since a season ago, and overall making Khris Davis’ knack for the punch out much less frustrating. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Davis is a fan favorite. Only difference here is that he was forced to change his number to 11 after the team gave his old no. 2 to Starling Marte.
If you’re going to steal 20 bases straight and set a team record, Marte can wear any number he wants! Welcome back, Khris Davis.

Good for him. I hope he finds his swing again and helps propel the A’s into a long playoff run.
