Kentucky Man Racks Up Impressive List Of Charges After Hitting 143 MPH In His Mustang

A Kentucky man decided Saturday was the day he was going to lead Kentucky State Troopers on a wild Smokey & The Bandit-like chase across the Bluegrass Parkway, but this time there was no Mr. B. in an Allied Van Lines semi to save this bandit from the long arm of the law. Instead of a beautiful 1977 Pontiac Trans Am, our modern bandit, 47-year-old Steven Alford, chose a 2015 yellow Ford Mustang for his chase scene that included a top speed of 143 mph, according to the Nelson County Sheriff's Department.

"The driver pulled over at the 30 Mile Markers after a lengthy pursuit due to running out of gas. Steven Alford 47 years old from Roundhill, KY refused to exit the vehicle and had to be assisted by Sheriff Deputies and KSP," the sheriff's office reported on Facebook.

Alford, who didn't have a Sally Field in his passenger seat with a smoke hanging off her lip, was hit with a slew of charges, and this bandit was shipped off to the county jail. Those charges include Speeding 26 MPH or more over the limit, Fleeing or Evading Police First Degree Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, 4 counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree Police Officer, Driving too fast for Conditions, Operating on Suspended or revoked License, Improper Passing, License Plate Not Legible, Resisting Arrest.

The Nelson County Sheriff is asking anyone who was passed by Alford the Bandit to give them a call.

Now, go watch one of the greatest moments in cinematic history:
