Johnny Football Discusses The XFL, The Rock

Johnny Manziel has all but announced he is done with football. The latest quote, coming from TMZ, should hopefully be the last time folks try to bring it up.

Manziel was asked about the XFL, which he deflected to being positive about Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and away from him lacing it up.

"Listen, anything The Rock touches is gonna be gold as always," he said. "But I think football is a little bit behind me. I'm just trying do to other things in life that make me happy. That's it.

"I'm retired dude," he added. "You never say never, I'm still an athletic guy.... but at the end of the day, let's see where the rest of life takes me."

Manziel is now 27 and has been out of the NFL since he was cut following the 2015 season. He tried to hook on with the Canadian Football League and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as well as Montreal Alouettes in 2018 and then did a stint with the Memphis Express of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) in 2019.

To his credit, Manziel parlayed two sterling years as the quarterback for Texas A&M into $10M in NFL dollars and now a life of being "Johnny Football."

As for The XFL and The Rock, it will be interesting to see what comes next.
