Longtime Houston sports writer John McClain spoke with Clay Travis this morning on OutKick the Coverage.
McClain is considered the foremost authority on the ongoing Deshaun Watson drama since he knows the Texans as well as any reporter.
“Common sense has to prevail,” McClain says. “Watson will never be more valuable than he is right now.”
“They got to pull the trigger on a trade.”
McClain tells Clay, despite the rumors, he cannot see the Panthers getting a deal done for Watson because, unlike the Jets and Dolphins, the Panthers don’t have the draft capital for a future franchise QB.
McClain did say if the Texans’ front office sees potential in Tua, the Dolphins make sense. If they don’t see that in Tua, McClain says the Texans have to deal with the Jets and draft a QB 2nd overall.
