Jimbo Fisher Doubles Down on 'Beat Saban's Ass' Comment

Jimbo Fisher shocked the college football world when he said his Texas A&M squad was going to beat Nick Saban's a** this upcoming season. Most expected him to walk back that statement, but he doubled down instead. That's the kind of fire sports needs!

He joined the Houston Touchdown Club to elaborate on his statement earlier this month:

"Heck yes I think we're going to beat them," Fisher said to TexAgs.com. "That's why we're here. They're the standard right now, but we have to learn to beat them."

He's probably wrong. Texas A&M isn't likely to touch Bama, but that still doesn't extinguish the purpose behind it. Fisher has to believe he can beat Alabama, and now his players possible follow suit. If your head coach tells the media you're just trying to compete with the best team in football -- how can anyone expect the players to outwork them or shock the world on a given Saturday?

Lane Kiffin was befuddled by the remarks and had this to say:

"Calling out the G.O.A.T. in the middle of another championship?! Good luck."

You have to believe you are somebody before you can ever be somebody in this world, Lane. That's how capitalism works, and as Jimbo Fisher clearly understands, sports are no different.

Our participation trophy generation could use some expectations. Jimbo Fisher is delivering exactly that, and if Texas A&M shocks the world, you'll know where that fire started. Good for Jimbo.
