Jets Trade Sam Darnold To The Carolina Panthers For '21 Sixth-rounder,'22 Second And Fourth-rounder

Sam Darnold is finally out of New York and headed to the Carolina Panthers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. In return, the Jets get a sixth-rounder this year and a second-rounder and a fourth-round selection in 2022.

At least Carolina has some weapons for the guy. Curtis Samuel and Robby Anderson will help Sam Darnold get back on his feet.

Adam Schefter reports that the Panthers and Jets were talking "for weeks" and the offer eventually "creeped up and up."

Not sure why. I'm just the messenger.

NFL executives have reportedly been "low" on Darnold of late, so we'll have to see how his situation unfolds in Carolina. This could be the team's last attempt at a rental before they shift attention to bigger fish like Seahawks' star Russell Wilson.

At least Sam Darnold won't have to play for the Jets anymore. Baby steps.
