The New York Jets potentially lost big by beating the Rams 23-20 today because it takes away their pole position to land generational talent Trevor Lawrence first overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Jets and Jaguars are now both 1-13. The tiebreaker comes down to strength of schedule, as in which team had opponents who fared worse this season. Through 15 weeks, the Jags’ opponents have fewer wins and therefore a worse winning percentage:
Effectively, the only way the Jets are going to get the first overall pick now is if the Jaguars beat one of their final two opponents, the Bears or Colts. The Jets play the Browns and Patriots in their two final games.
If you know a Jets fan in your life, he/she may be need counseling after enduring the perfect losing season only to squander it in Week 15.

they did win a super bowl against all expectations. so there is that.
Jets fans need to relax. Even had the jets gone 0-16, there was/is a real possibility that Trevor Lawrence will just go back to school… as he likely see both Jets and Jags franchises as dead end franchises with dead end career trajectories.
Trevor had a Heisman-like game on Saturday. What better way for the Jets to respond?
