Jets HC Saleh Sidelined With COVID

The New York Jets announced head coach Robert Saleh tested positive for COVID-19.

The team said tight ends coach Ron Middleton will serve as head coach in his absence.

Around the NFL reports Saleh is vaccinated, and although he would still need to test negative before being cleared, he can still address the team during the week virtually.

Saleh said on Monday that five players tested positive, including DE John Franklin-Myers, DL Tanzel Smart, WR Vyncint Smith, S Sharrod Neasman and CB Lamar Jackson.

DL Foley Fatukasi, who was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Dec. 18, is still in the protocols after missing Week 15, Jetswire reports.

The Jets (3-11) host the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-12) on Sunday and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-4) on Jan. 2, before traveling to Buffalo to face the Bills (8-6) on Jan. 9.
