Jets' Adam Gase: No One Has Told Me I'm Being Fired Yet

Adam Gase has lost when he wasn't supposed to lose and won when he wasn't really supposed to win. But according to Gase, he still has a job as New York Jets' head coach.

The idea that Gase has a job is worth mentioning because a New York radio report stated Gase has already been told he'll be fired after the season.

"That was news to me. No one has said that to me,” Gase told reporters.

When asked what he thought might happen after the season, Gase was again direct.

"You’re going to hate this answer, but it’s the best one I can give you” he said. “I learned when I was 22 years old, Nick Saban told me, 'You do your job until somebody tells you different.' That’s what I’m going to focus on."

Gase and the Jets are 2-13 entering their season finale Sunday vs. the New England Patriots. They lost their first 13 before stunning the Los Angeles Rams and then the Cleveland Browns.

Before the victories, the Jets were the favorites to land Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 overall draft pick. But now, they've officially lost that prize, and at what cost? To win a couple of meaningless games? Jets management may be more irritated with Gase for the wins than they are for the losses.

So it's probably true that no one has yet told Gase he's out as coach. But it is also probably true that message will be delivered soon.
