Jemele Hill — like most of the country’s promoted voices — only sees skin color. In Hill’s eyes, you are white or you are black. Nothing else. End of story.
Hill follows a playbook that reads simply: If you don’t like what a white person does or says, call them racist. Naturally, that led Hill to Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), who recently announced his opposition to the Democrats’ “sweeping election reform bill.”
Hill was quite bothered by Manchin’s decision. So, she opted to call him names via keywords that trend on Twitter.
This is so on brand for this country. Record number of black voters show up to save this democracy, only for white supremacy to be upheld by a cowardly, power-hungry white dude. @Sen_JoeManchin is a clown. https://t.co/fCMuyoLer3— Jemele Hill (@jemelehill) June 6, 2021
Got all that? Per Hill, Manchin is a “white supremacist,” a “clown,” and a “white dude.” In other words, Manchin is a white male who doesn’t obey the rules. Damn him.
By the way, why are people who are white and male frequently called “white dudes” now? Can you imagine if one with a platform just nonchalantly called Hill a “black woman” instead of her name? So odd and telling how that works. Also, Hill claims that black people removed Donald Trump from office. Trump made gains among black voters. Hill would be quite surprised by these results.
Anyway, for those interested in hearing Manchin’s side, the senator explained his reasoning in the Charleston Gazette-Mail, claiming the act pushed voting laws that “ensure partisan divisions continue to deepen.”
“Congressional action on federal voting rights legislation must be the result of both Democrats and Republicans coming together to find a pathway forward or we risk further dividing and destroying the republic we swore to protect and defend as elected officials,” Manchin wrote. Adding it’s “more than 800-page bill has garnered zero Republican support.”
Seems that there is more behind Manchin’s reasoning than evil white supremacy.
Manchin is a Democrat who doesn’t align with his party’s direction on many issues. Some call him a “white dude,” others may say he’s the Democrats’ Mitt Romney, who similarly didn’t support his party’s recent evolution.
Tough when you put it like that.
Jemele Hill and Democrats cite “diversity” as the motive for their social activism. In reality, their motive is to eliminate diversity of thought. Manchin thinks differently, thus he’s an in-house threat.
