Jazz Plane Rerouted After Hitting Birds

The Utah Jazz currently have the best record in the NBA, but their latest flight was one for the birds.

More specifically, a recent Jazz flight had to be rerouted after hitting a bunch of bird-brained, egg-laying warm-blooded vertebrates during takeoff. The result was an emergency landing, but no injuries.

The Jazz were riding on their Delta plane when the "accident" occurred and were forced to return to Salt Lake City. The plane apparently crashed into the birds just moments after takeoff. Flightradar24, which monitors global air traffic, reported that the plane needed to return after issues with the left engine.

"Fortunately the plane landed safely," a Jazz representative told USA Today.

The Jazz were headed for a game in Memphis against the Grizzlies when the incident occurred. They currently are in first in the Western Conference with a record of 35-11.
