Jalen Ramsey Put the CLAMPS on DK Metcalf

Videos by OutKick

Wide receivers get a lot more attention than cornerbacks do because they get the ball in their hands and accumulate fantasy points, but I’ve long argued that elite corners, such as Darrelle Revis in his prime, are more valuable than top-flight receivers. The former possess the power to lock down the latter.

DK Metcalf entered Sunday’s game against the Rams with 43 catches for 788 yards and eight touchdowns. Los Angeles cornerback Jalen Ramsey put the absolute clamps on him; the stud Seahawks receiver had just two catches for 28 yards. He was only targeted two additional times.

Here are highlights from the matchup:

Per the Seattle Times, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said that they “made it a point at halftime” to try to get Metcalf more involved in the second half. However, they were unable to do so because of a combination of pressure on Russell Wilson and Ramsey having Metcalf locked down.

This is going to be a matchup that should be outstanding to watch for years to come.
