Jack Nicklaus Believes Tiger Is On His Way Back To Golfing Again

Videos by OutKick

Six months have passed since Tiger Woods suffered serious injuries in a car accident, and at least one former golfing legend believes Woods will come back stronger than ever.

Jack Nicklaus says that Woods may not reach his old form, but that he does expect him to play competitively again one day.

“I know Tiger,” Nicklaus said. “What he did at Torrey Pines [winning the 2008 U.S. Open] on a broken leg, what does that tell you? He’ll still be able to slap it around, and if he can putt, he’ll be all right.”

Another less decorated, but equally invested golfer, Rickie Fowler, shared some of his first-hand observations from seeing Woods in physical rehabilitation.

“I know he’s been getting after it as far as rehab goes, that takes up most of his day,” Fowler told said. “I know it’s been tough. It’s a long road till now, he’s got a long road ahead, but he’s putting the work in.”

If reports are true, Woods is recovering nicely, but hasn’t been near a golf club since the accident. According to sources close to Woods, he also hasn’t been around his usual South Florida haunts, like his restaurant The Woods Jupiter, in months.

Woods has also stayed silent about the crash itself, not divulging any details about how it could have happened or what his timetable looks like for returning to the golf course. For now, we have to rely on the public well-wishes of friends to gain a sense of how Woods is recovering, and what his future plans may entail.

  1. Why the snobbish response to Jack. He ain’t lying. I’m sure most golf fans would like to see Tiger play again. I’d say Jack is a fan of golf. I certainly am and I hope Tiger plays again. I’m definitely pulling for him.
