It May Be Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy Vs. Bills DC Leslie Frazier For Next Texans Coach

Videos by OutKick

The Houston Texans are taking their sweet time on coaching interviews, and part of that may be because their top candidate is still coaching. That man would be no less than Kansas Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, whose team plays in the AFC Championship on Sunday vs. the Buffalo Bills.

So it may be a minute before the Chiefs can hire Bieniemy, if they so desire. Same goes for Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, who has also interviewed for the Texans job.

And now, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chiefs would like to interview both Bieniemy and Frazier a second time for their coaching vacancy. Word has it that they are the two finalists for the job, with again, Bieniemy supposedly holding the edge.

So fittingly, it will be Bieniemy’s offense vs. Frazier’s defense in the biggest AFC game of the season. And perhaps for the right to become the Texans’ next head coach. Then again, perhaps whoever loses has the real edge.

After all, the Texans won’t have to wait to hire the coordinator of the losing team. The winning team, of course, will be headed to the Super Bowl. That being the case, the guess here is that Bieniemy and Frazier would both be fine with making the Texans wait.

  1. Ironically thanks to Deshaun Watson, the loser of todays game may lose their DC/OC to Houston as the head coach.

if i were Houston, i’d rather have the Coordinator from the team that wins the Superbowl.

hope Watson gets his way, because Children always get their way in a single parent house.
